 I’m just over here

Reading Elizabeth Thomas verses

And wondering how hard it would be

To learn about curses

And would it make me better

To enact my revenge

Or would it leave me like Medusa

Owned by the snakes on my head

Was it sticky sweet goodness

And new found excitement for you?

Was the joy worth my undoing

A midlife crisis that I saw through…

It came as a surprise to you that I could fall out of love

And you drone on about the here and now’s

And all your improvements and work on yourself

Do nothing to change that you broke your vows

A marriage isn’t an experiment

It’s a sacred bond you make

A forever promise

That you faked.
